A detailed look at the Mega Greninja ex Premium Collection Box, including its contents, gameplay value, and who it's best for.
Quick answer
The Mega Greninja ex Premium Collection Box is a solid pick if you want a powerful Water-type attacker and a foil promo card, but its value depends on how much you'll use the included Greninja ex in your deck.
What you get and why it matters
This box includes a foil promo card featuring Mega Greninja ex in both playable and collector-oriented versions. The promo's Mortal Shuriken Ability lets you discard a Basic Water Energy to place six damage counters on an opponent's Pokémon, which can disrupt setup or finish off weakened targets. Its Ninja Spinner attack can deal up to 200 damage, making it a potential closer in Water-type decks.
However, the box does not include booster packs or dice, so it's not a complete start for a new player. The value is concentrated in the promo card and any additional accessories included, which are not detailed in the available catalog facts.
Trade-offs to consider
The catalog price of $43.66 (compared to $59.00) is a discount, but without knowing the full contents beyond the promo, you're paying primarily for that single card. If you don't need a Water-type attacker or already have a strong deck, the box may not add much to your collection.
Compared to other premium collections or tins, this box lacks the variety of packs or multiple promos. It's best viewed as a targeted purchase for Greninja fans or competitive players looking for a specific card.
Decision rules for the Mega Greninja ex Premium Collection Box
- If you need a strong Water-type attacker: The Greninja ex promo offers both disruption and high damage, fitting well in Water or energy acceleration decks.
- If you're a collector: The foil promo card is exclusive to this box, making it a unique addition to a Greninja or Mega Evolution collection. Check if the promo is also available in other products; exclusivity adds long-term value.
- If you're on a budget or new to the TCG: Without booster packs or a full game setup, this box is not a cost-effective way to start playing. Consider an Elite Trainer Box or theme deck instead.
