The Squirtle shell came out looking even better in person than the photos, and that backlit screen makes a huge difference for playing in darker rooms. I can finally see what’s happening in Pokémon without straining my eyes.

I was honestly worried a backlit mod might feel weird, but the screen is so crisp and evenly lit that my old games look brand new. The Squirtle paint job on the shell is clean too, though the little guy on the back is my favorite part.

The Squirtle shell design is even cuter in person, with the blue matching my old Pokémon cards perfectly. The backlit screen makes playing my old cartridges in dim light finally possible without straining my eyes.
