Compare the Splatoon 2 Pro Controller and PS4 Midnight Blue DualShock 4 to find the right wireless controller for your Switch or PS4 setup.
Quick answer
If you play on Nintendo Switch and want motion controls plus amiibo support, get the Splatoon 2 Pro Controller. If you're on PS4 and want a reliable wireless pad, the Midnight Blue DualShock 4 is the better fit.
Platform compatibility is the first filter
The Splatoon 2 Pro Controller is built for the Nintendo Switch, while the DualShock 4 is made for the PlayStation 4. Neither controller works on the other's console without extra adapters, so your primary platform should drive the choice.
If you own both consoles, you may want one controller for each. But if you're choosing a single controller for one system, match it to the console you play most.
Feature differences that matter
The Splatoon 2 Pro Controller includes motion controls and HD rumble, which can enhance gameplay in compatible Switch titles. It also has built-in amiibo functionality, letting you tap amiibo figures directly on the controller.
The DualShock 4 in Midnight Blue is a wireless controller for PS4 with a distinctive color. It lacks the motion and amiibo features of the Pro Controller, but it's designed to work seamlessly with PS4 games.
Condition and price considerations
The Splatoon 2 Pro Controller is available as a used option, which may affect its price and condition. The DualShock 4 comes in Very Good or Good condition options, so you can pick the one that fits your budget and quality preference.
Prices vary, so compare the listed prices and condition options to decide which offers the best value for your needs.
Trade-offs to consider
- Platform lock-in: The Splatoon 2 Pro Controller only works with Switch; the DualShock 4 only works with PS4. Pick the controller that matches your primary console.
- Feature set: The Pro Controller adds motion controls, HD rumble, and amiibo support. The DualShock 4 lacks these but is purpose-built for PS4 games. If you value motion and amiibo, the Pro Controller is the way to go.
- Condition and price: The Pro Controller is used; the DualShock 4 offers Very Good or Good conditions. Compare prices and condition to balance cost and quality. Check the condition options before committing to a purchase.
