Not sure which sleeved booster pack to buy? This guide breaks down the differences between Temporal Forces, Brilliant Stars, and Vivid Voltage packs to help you decide based on your collection goals and budget.
Quick answer
Choose a sleeved booster pack based on which Pokemon set you want to collect. Temporal Forces is ideal for Ancient and Future Pokemon fans, Brilliant Stars offers a classic experience with a bonus promo card and coin, and Vivid Voltage delivers a budget-friendly entry point with its own promo and coin.
What Makes Each Set Different
Each sleeved booster pack gives you one booster pack from a specific Pokemon TCG expansion. The main difference between these packs is the set they come from, which determines the pool of cards you can pull. Temporal Forces focuses on Ancient and Future Pokemon like Walking Wake ex and Iron Leaves ex, while Brilliant Stars and Vivid Voltage each have their own distinct card lists and chase cards.
Beyond the set, some sleeved packs include extras. The Brilliant Stars and Vivid Voltage single pack blisters each come with a coin and a promotional card, adding a little more value to your purchase. The Temporal Forces sleeved booster pack does not include these extras, but it offers access to the latest expansion with ACE SPEC cards making a return.
How to Decide
- Set Priority: Decide which Pokemon TCG expansion you want to collect. If you want the newest Ancient and Future cards, choose Temporal Forces. If you prefer the classic feel of the Sword & Shield era, go with Brilliant Stars or Vivid Voltage.
- Extras Matter: If you want a promotional card and coin with your booster pack, choose the Brilliant Stars or Vivid Voltage single pack blister. If you don't need those extras, the Temporal Forces sleeved booster pack is a straightforward option.
- Budget Check: The Temporal Forces and Vivid Voltage packs are similarly priced, while the Brilliant Stars blister costs a bit more due to the included extras. Compare prices to see which fits your budget. Always check the current price as it can vary by retailer.
